A Graceful Revolution: Meanjin Winter 2023

  • Muse East Hotel, 69 Canberra Ave Kingston ACT 2604 (map)

Source: Adam McGrath, High Court of Australia

“The story of how Australia came to have a woman on the bench of its highest court has an unlikely first chapter. It starts with a young girl in northern New South Wales, dawdling to avoid chores from her mother…”

So begins Tom McIlroy’s essay in Meanjin 82.2 Winter 2023 on the impact of Australia’s female high court judges – now in majority for the first time in history. Join Meanjin Editor Esther Anatolitis in conversation with AFR journalist Tom McIlroy and let’s discuss what was once described as “the graceful incoming of a revolution”: the role of women on the bench.

Tickets: $10

Doors open at 2:45pm. Wine and soft drinks can be purchased before the event. Unfortunately, hot drinks are not available.
