Rated 5 Stars in the 2018 James Halliday Australian Wine Companion, Tenafeate Creek from the Adelaide Hills in South Australia has been producing 90+ point wines since their first vintage in 2002.
Larry Costa, a former hairdresser, embarked on winemaking as a hobby in 2002. The property, with its 1ha of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and merlot, is situated on the rolling countryside of One Tree Hill in the Mount Lofty Ranges. The business grew rapidly, with grenache, nebbiolo, sangiovese, petit verdot, chardonnay, semillon and sauvignon blanc purchased to supplement the estate-grown grapes. Michael Costa, Larry's son, has now joined his father as co-owner of the business, and has 16 vintages under his belt, mainly in the Barossa Valley, with Flying Winemaker stints in southern Italy and Provence.
