Once regarded as helpless victims waiting to be rescued, Muslim women are now regarded as a potential threat. Explore the lives of women negotiating the post-9/11 world - from volatile Afghan refugee camps and Pakistani weddings, to Australian suburbia and campaigns to ‘ban the burqa’.

Shakira Hussein is a regular commentator on issues of gender, Islam and multiculturalism in Australia. She will be joined by Canberra’s own Bianca 'Bam Bam’ Elmir, former EA to Greens MLA Amanda Bresnan and Australia's current Oceania Boxing Bantamweight Champion, as well as journalist, researcher and commentator Julie Posetti (Fairfax Media, University of Wollongong) as participating chair.
