Best Tasting Experience Alpine Valleys/Beechworth
The Castagna Vineyard is situated outside the beautiful town of Beechworth in Northeast Victoria. Their soil consists mainly of decomposed granitic-loam on a base of clay and the climate distinctly Mediterranean, with hot days and cool nights during the important part of the growing season. The land is farmed biodynamically using Rudolf Steiner’s biodynamic principles in order to achieve optimum fruit quality that best expresses its terroir. Put simply they produce wine which is an expression of the place where it is grown.
As many of you will know our focus for the wine list at Muse is on boutique, independent and family owned wineries. There aren't many wineries that tick each box quite like the Castagna Vineyard!
When we visited the family home/cellar door we were met by next generation wine maker Adam Castagna who took us through their sensational range of wines: from Syrah and Sangiovese, to Chardonnay and an incredible Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Viognier blend which, incidentally, you can find on our fabulous all-Australian wine list.
We are very excited to welcome the effusive Adam Castagna to Muse to take you through an intimate cellar door experience!
