Twenty Questions – Laura Tingle

What do you get when you ask a prominent someone twenty rapid-fire, unrehearsed questions? Truth, dare, obfuscation or heartfelt honesty? We’re hoping for a bit of all of these when we put Australian Financial Review Political Editor Laura Tingle in the hot seat for Question Time.

We know she’s a twice Walkley-winning journalist whose coverage of politics and economics over 30 years is second-to-none. But did you know that she’s also a passionate choral singer and a member of the Canberra Choral Society’s naughty alto corner?

We love her appearances on Insiders and Q&A, but what else is there to know? What’s her favourite book, drink, social media meme? Is she obsessed with 'The Americans' like the rest of us, or will nothing surpass 'Thunderbirds'? And why does she love to sing?

Muse’s own literary guru Nikki Anderson will have clipboard in hand for a gentle interrogation of this favourite of the press gallery, and is confident that when the tables are turned that she can promise a revelation or two!

The Australian Financial Review's political editor Laura Tingle has spent most of her 35 year career covering federal politics, writing on both economics and politics for The Australian, The Age, the Sydney Morning Herald and the AFR. She is the author ofChasing the Future - a book about the recession of the early 1990s - and two Quarterly Essays: Great Expectations: Government, entitlement and an Angry Nation (2012) andPolitical Amnesia: How we forgot how to govern (2015). She has won two Walkley Awards and the Paul Lyneham Award for Press Gallery Journalism.
