"Prepare yourself for a beautiful, inspiring and extraordinary tale of triumph over adversity."
Our third guest in the SpringOUT season, Maria Katsonis, is the good Greek girl who grew up above her parents’ milk bar and shared a bedroom with her yiayia. That is until university where she discovered her rebellious side, realised her true sexuality and abandoned nine-tenths of an economics degree for a career in the theatre. Furthering her studies later in life, Maria attended Harvard University and left with a Masters of Public Administration. Little did she know, in five years time, she would be alone on a bed in a psych ward fighting for her life.
Katsonis’ memoir, The Good Greek Girl, has been one of the standout titles of the year and Katsonis, a lecturer in public policy and adviser to the Victorian government, has blazed a much talked-about trail around the nation’s writers festivals. We can’t wait to meet her and hear her in conversation with Frank Quinlan (CEO, Mental Health Australia) at Muse. Katsonis’ story is not to be missed.
